DAZ-gene family members

Several gene families on the human Y chromosome are involved in reproduction. One of the most important is the DAZ family which produce highly conserved RNA-binding proteins. Upon synthesis, these proteins regulate formation of germ cells (sex precursors), faciliate germ cell survival, and gamete development in both sexes.
